JIZO-IN

Jizo-in is a small temple on the south-west outskirts of Kyoto at the foothills of the Arashiyama mountains. The temple was built in 1367 by the founding priest Muso Soseki, also renowned as a poet and garden designer. The temple was destroyed during the Onin war 1467-1477 and reconstructed more than a hundred years later. In front of the Main Hall is a moss garden with rocks, shrubs and trees.
